Cells under investigation

We use ciliates to study signal transduction, electromotor coupling, and as a model system of animal behaviour in the stimulus field. As an example of highly sensitive mechanotransduction the signalling pathways of gravireception and graviresponses are analyzed under normal and artificial conditions (weightlessness, hypergravity; density manipulation). We employ methods of cellular electrophysiology, video-microscopic recording and digital image analysis.
